The house

The story of Black Label Trading Co.

Black Label Trading Company entered the cigar business in 2013. Its cigars are associated with Nicaragua and are manufactured by Oveja Negra.

The house works with tobacco from several origins. La Madonna Negra 10th Anniversary combines a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, an Ecuadorian binder, and fillers from Nicaragua and Pennsylvania. The full-strength cigar is offered as a hand-rolled, long-filler release.

For the Atlantic Cigar-exclusive Dreadnought, Black Label Trading Company used a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler. James Brown sourced the tobacco for the project, whose blend was repeatedly adjusted before release. Production was limited to 600 bundles of ten.

James Brown also blended the Dreadnought BP Torpedo created for Atlantic Cigar’s 30th anniversary. Made in Nicaragua by Oveja Negra, it pairs Pennsylvania Broadleaf and Ecuadorian Habano in a barber-pole wrapper over an Ecuadorian binder and Nicaraguan filler. Only 500 boxes were produced.

How they make them

The cited releases are hand-rolled, long-filler cigars made in Nicaragua by Oveja Negra. Their blends draw on Mexican San Andrés, Connecticut and Pennsylvania Broadleaf, Ecuadorian Habano, and tobaccos from Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Pennsylvania. For the Atlantic Cigar-exclusive Dreadnought, James Brown sourced the tobacco and made repeated blend adjustments before release.
