The story of Nica Rustica
Nica Rustica is a Drew Estate cigar line conceived as a tribute to the people of Estelí, Nicaragua, the home of La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate.
The line’s packaging and artwork were hand-painted by Richard “Dog” Diaz, lead artist at Drew Estate’s Subculture Studios. The imagery celebrates Estelí and its residents.
The original blend was subsequently named Nica Rustica Broadleaf without changing its tobacco composition. Nica Rustica Shade offers a milder expression built around an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper.
How they make them
Nica Rustica cigars are handmade in Estelí with long-filler tobaccos. Broadleaf uses a Connecticut River Valley Broadleaf Medium wrapper, Mexican San Andrés Negro binder, and Nicaraguan fillers from Estelí and Jalapa. Shade pairs an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper with a Mexican binder and long fillers from Nicaragua, the United States, and the Dominican Republic.
