The story of La Aroma de Cuba

La Aroma de Cuba is identified among the client brands made for Ashton by the Garcia family’s Nicaraguan operation. The listed lines include Edicion Especial, New Blend and Mi Amor.

José “Pepin” Garcia spent forty years in Cuba as a cigar roller and blender, attaining the Class 8 Master rank. He left Cuba in 2001 and established El Rey de los Habanos in Miami in 2002. Growing demand led the company to establish Tabacalera Cubana S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua, in June 2006; the broader company name later became My Father Cigars.

Pepin’s son Jaime Garcia also works as a blender for La Aroma de Cuba. The Connecticut line is credited jointly to Pepin and Jaime, manufactured by My Father Cigars and made in Nicaragua.

Craft

How they make them

La Aroma de Cuba Connecticut uses Nicaraguan long-filler and binder tobaccos beneath an Ecuadorian-grown Connecticut-seed wrapper. Its tobacco is harvested on Garcia-family estates in Estelí, Jalapa and Condega and undergoes triple fermentation. The cigars are hand rolled with long filler. More broadly, cigars made at Garcia factories follow the Cuban style, receive a triple cap and are packed in boxes marked with the date of manufacture.
