The story of Romeo y Julieta
Romeo y Julieta marked its 150th anniversary in 2025 and introduced a 150th Anniversary Collection at that year’s Premium Cigar Association Trade Show in New Orleans.
The Romeo y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua line was released in 2018. Unlike the Romeo y Julieta 1875 cigars made at Tabacalera Garcia, this extension is produced by the Plasencia family at its Nicaraguan factory using aged tobacco grown on Plasencia farms in Nicaragua.
The house has continued to appear in limited and commemorative formats. These include the limited-edition Envy Amulet Toro, the Eternal limited edition, Reserva treatment for the Short Churchill, and an edition commemorating the 150th Kentucky Derby.

How they make them
The documented Nicaraguan cigars are hand-rolled, long-filler blends. The 1875 Nicaragua is a puro made with aged Nicaraguan wrapper, binder and filler grown on Plasencia farms. Envy is also entirely Nicaraguan, with a Jalapa wrapper taken from a higher priming for added depth and strength; Rafael Nodal and Plasencia are credited as its blenders.
